Have you heard of embolization?
56fibroid tumors... no more!
I realize most women with fibroid tumors have heavy periods... what I didn't know was that fibroids can be painful. Once upon a time the only option to relieve this pain would have been a hysterectomy. I don't know about you, but I have a problem when anyone wants to take one of my body parts! Yikes!
So, are there any alternatives? If so, what could they possibly be? A friend told me about Uterine Embolization! She had a balloon sort of substance inserted in her virginal area and expanded to coat the Uterine and cut off the fibroids. It was day surgery and she was home in four hours to bear the pain alone!
Hmm, that didn't sound so great to me, especially when she ended up in the ER that night from dehydration. The pain is so intense you can't keep anything down! Your body is also in shock.
Then I met a doctor that would do Embolization with an overnight stay in the hospital. This Radiologist told me a catheter is inserted through an artery in my groin and snake it around the uterus. With this catheter they would be able to inject tiny particles into the small blood vessels going to each tumor. This would effectively starve the fibroid by blocking the blood flow. The fibriods would then simply be absorbed by the body! Awesome! This sounded good to me!
I checked in. The procedure was done before 10:00am. I was given a pain pump, and checked into the hospital. I'm glad I went this route because I was unable to keep any thing down all night! The next day, I was pain free for the first time in months! I was checked out by 2pm and home in my own bed. Within 10 days I was up and about, feeling great! I would recommend this option to any woman I know. What a wonderful blessing, a few hours in the hospital and my life was transformed.
May you all be well!
